Our story
In the early morning hours of October 5, 2023, after 2 weeks of excruciating headaches that stubbornly would not go away, an emergency room visit and a CT scan ordered by an astute ER doctor, Preston Joseph Henderson was diagnosed with an high grade glioma. A day later he was rushed into a successful craniotomy to remove the 6 cm tumor, only to learn this was just the beginning. This active 16 year old who loved to dance, was a born performer, and brought laughter and positivity to everyone he met, then embarked on an 18 1/2 month battle with brain cancer. Despite the best efforts of his incredible medical team and after a 3 week stay at the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital, Preston lost his battle with cancer on April 8, 2025 surrounded by family, friends, and that same medical team who had grown to love him. One of his favorite nurses perfectly labeled him “sunshine in human form” and from that The PrestoStrong Project was born. Preston brought joy and light to all who knew him through his infectious personality and his ability to captivate and audience with his exceptional talent in dance. It is our mission to continue to bring joy, hope, and light to the lives of other.

we are
We are a group of individuals fortunate enough to have basked in Preston’s light while he was here on earth. It is our privilege to carry on the torch from the fire he lit in all our souls. We hope to carry on his legacy and in doing so, make the world a brighter place.
